The concept suggests that a lack of balanced Ki flow, often influenced by stress or negative thoughts, can result in energy disturbances referred to as byoki. Reiki is a complementary practice where a practitioner channels universal energy (Rei) to areas of energy imbalance. The stated goal of a session is to support the recipient's natural ability to relax and create conditions that are believed to encourage a return to a more balanced and harmonious flow of Ki.*
